Puerto Rico, Devastated island

Discovered too by Columbus

Once a tropical treasure

Once an important island

 

Puerto Rico, not really a state

No voting rights in congress

Now island of corruption

Now with no running water

Or electric or fuel

Now needs a revolution

 

 

I want to stay in Puerto Rico

Water and food in Puerto Rico

House and a car in Puerto Rico

And not be ignored by the USA

 

Hurricane Irma attacked us hard

Wiped out our roads and threw us off guard

But response from the US was so slow

We asked for money but the answer was NO

 

I want to stay in Puerto Rico

Only with a house in Puerto Rico

Since I lost my job in Puerto Rico

I'm expected to starve in PR?

 

Maybe we need to be our own country

The Cubans next door are also free

Since we have no rights in the USA

At least we will have our own say

 

We'll never become the 51st state

Cause we are not considered first rate

Hurricane Irma made us see

That we deserve to be free

 

I want to live in a Free Puerto Rico

Be on my own in Puerto Rico

I want to be able to decide my own fate

And become a citizen that's first rate
